Our Lenten practice, “Water Wednesdays”, came to a close with a waterfall of good news! Seven NCC members and two friends of NCC contributed a total of $400 which will be sent to our chosen charity, “Pure Water for the World”. These donations will enable more people to easily access clean water for drinking, cooking and cleaning. A big “thank you” to everyone who participated by fasting from their usual beverages during the six Wednesdays in Lent and donating generously.
April 5, marked the sixth and last week of our Lenten practice, “Water Wednesdays”. Whether you have faithfully drunk only water, or whether you’ve forgotten and sipped a cup of coffee or two (we’re only human!), I hope that the practice has brought to mind a little more GRATITUDE for our easy access to clean water and COMPASSION for those who have to walk miles daily to obtain water or who only have access to polluted or contaminated water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.
As we pray “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”, we give thanks for the opportunity to contribute to a world in which all of God’s children have access to clean water.
