Friends in Christ,
I’m writing here to report the decision made by the Church Council at our video meeting on May 16 about worship and other meetings. In the interest of caution and concern for everyone’s health, we are accepting the recommendation of our United Church of Christ Conference leaders not to gather together in person at least for the duration of the summer. If you are acquainted with anyone who has or has had this terrible COVID 19 disease or even more tragically has died, you know how serious it is. We cannot be responsible for it be contracted by anyone in our community.
The Council has also supported the current format I am presenting for worship: an entire liturgy with a graphic, music and a printed sermon here on our website each week in the “Posts” section. I hope you are finding these services meaningful.
In addition, we also are sad to report that it will not be wise for us to host our traditional and beloved Peach Festival on the Pine Meadow Green in August. Even though it is held outdoors, because it is so popular and well-attended, it would not be possible for our guests (and for us) to keep the necessary and required physical distancing.
Blessings to you all, and as always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any concerns or if you just need to talk. I look forward to the time when we can meet safely together in our sanctuary and church building.
The Rev. Marcia Lynn Cox, Designated Pastor
