SUMMER INTO FALL, 2020
Friends in Christ,
After far too many months of being apart and advising everyone to “stay home,” the Church Council and I have started to think about gathering for worship while still observing CDC guidelines.
On Sunday, August 2, we had an outdoor service on the church lawn and planned for a second one on August 16. Even though it rained on the Sunday of the second service we flung open the doors and gathered inside. Because the sanctuary seats 250 people we were able to social distance and the everyone in attendance was happy to be together.
LOOKING AHEAD: I will be on vacation for the three weeks from Monday, August 17 through Labor Day weekend (September 8). Since I am not leaving Connecticut, I will be available for serious emergencies. No plans have been made to engage guest preachers, so members are encouraged to visit the websites of sister churches for video worship services or the experience previous online services on our church website that they may not have viewed.
The Church Council has VERY cautiously and tentatively planned for us to return to the sanctuary on Sunday, September 13, where we will be honoring CDC guidelines by wearing masks and observing physical distancing. More information will be available as the time approaches.
THANK YOU to everyone who made the August 14 and 15 Tag Sale a success.
Grace and Peace, Rev. Marcia
