Thinking about visiting?
When you visit, you’ll be greeted by numerous folks (we’ll be so excited to have you visit, but don’t worry, we’ll totally play it cool). You’ll be struck by the warm atmosphere (our beautiful stained-glass windows give the sanctuary a lovely glow), and the warm welcome. This is a church where people from all kinds of backgrounds gather to share their journey of faith. We have young people, retirees, families of all shapes and sizes, Red Sox fans, Yankees fans, people who can sing, people who can’t, people who’ve been coming to this church their whole lives, and people who are totally new to engaging in a faith community.
You’ll probably hear opportunities to engage in service, like our regular food collection for the Open Door soup kitchen, our Covenant to Care program with the local Department of Children and Families (we do things like preparing Easter baskets and back-to-school supplies for kids in our community), announcements from representatives of the local peace group, lots of opportunities to participate in church activities such as our annual Peach Fest, or any number of gatherings for service or reflection.
In the sermon, you’ll be challenged with new ideas about that week’s readings from the Bible, and probably encouraged to reflect upon issues like forgiveness, peace, social justice, love, and faith. If it’s the first Sunday of the month, you’ll be welcome to join us for communion (no matter who you are). If it’s the fifth Sunday of the month, instead of a sermon, we might be having a hymn sing, or discussing that week’s liturgy as a group, or doing something else that’s uplifting.
You’ll see people in jeans, and people in ties. Come however you’re comfortable.
You’ll see kids going up to Sunday School halfway through the service, and kids staying in the sanctuary if they want to stick with their parents for the service.
And, at the end of the service, you’ll hear us join our voices in our common commission:
“Go out into the world in peace. Be of good courage, hold fast to that which is good; render to no one evil for evil; support the weak, help the afflicted, honor all persons, love and serve the Lord, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Visit us this Sunday! All are welcome!
Sunday Worship is at 10:00, with coffee and fellowship following.
