Leader: As we deal with the practicalities of protecting people from Covid-19, we continue to remember our calling to care for others.
People: We are mindful that this calling is in response to the good news that nothing can keep us apart from Your love through Jesus Christ.
Leader: We are grateful to all around the world who hold us in prayer as we hold them. We need not be fearful.
People: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy1:7)
Leader: Blessed are those who stand at gravesides for they are wrapped in God’s arms.
People: Blessed are those who care for the vulnerable for their saintly behavior is needed.
Leader: Blessed are you when others mock you for wearing a mask and keeping distance, caring for others, for then you know you are a sibling of Jesus.
People: Blessed are those who model faith for us in these uncertain days, weeks and months for they encourage us to live our faith, hope and love.
Unison: God of Word and Table, we ask your blessing on us and this symbolic arrangement of flags. Every life is precious as are the flood of tears shed for those who died and for their families. Bring our nation and the nations of the world into a place of compassion and caring so that we do all that is possible to save every life and prevent further spread of this virus. Strengthen all caregivers, researchers, and political leaders as they work to alleviate the suffering of all your children. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
